Mike and I hiked up to Volcan Barva - it´s a 45 minute walk from the entrance Right when we got there the clouds moved in immediately I was only able to get one photo before all you could see was white clouds We decided to wait it out and, fortunately, the clouds disipated It turned out to be a perfect time to arrive We were especially fortunate because this was in the afternoon, with the worst chances of being able to see the lagoon After walking back down to the base of the lagoon, the clouds started to roll in again The trail leading up to (or back from) the crater of the inactive volcano On the road leading to the entrance of the volcano; instead of fixing the bridge, they post a sign saying the bridge is in bad condition Back at the school, here are Bill and Kelly, two of the other students Preparing lunch Elena and Marianella That weekend, I took a trip down to San Marcos, part of the Los Santos coffee cities south of San Jose. Pictured here: Ladi, Salome, Luz´s sister, and Luz. Six of us crammed into a 4-seater jeep (Julio and I were in the front), for the purpose of visiting Luz´s mother for Mother´s Day. Luz´s son, Christian, and his family The family whom provided a place to sleep and an amazing breakfast According to the family, the best coffee in the world is grown right here; I liked the A-frame house in this pic San Marcos Coffee Luz and Kelly, who is one of the students at the Institute at San Joaquin (API) Here´s Stuart, Cindy´s son, and Luz´s grandson Emily, Kelly, and I at Tintos and Blancos in Paseo de las Flores for the final day of the API students This past weekend, I went to Jaco and Playa Hermosa; I managed to find a $12 per night hostel The hostel was located right next to the beach Around monkey island on the north side of Jaco It´s surprising that the beach is within walking distance from here (though in the opposite direction) Jaco is beautiful, too bad it´s being overrun with drugs; the tourists are beginning to go to Playa Hermosa and Esterillos instead Black and Green Poison Dart Frog This guy allowed me to get pretty close until he hopped away under some foliage
